Wow, showing just how out-of-touch I've been with comic book news lately: DeFalco and Frenz back on a monthly solo Spider-Girl book. marvel.com/catalog/?id=15063Once upon a time I'd have been on this within minutes of announcement. Either way, I'm still happy . Odds any of us saw this coming: Negative 10 percent Odds that there's some truth to the whole "DeFalco had a lifetime writing spot written into his EIC severance contract" thing: 90 percent

I placed a pull order the moment I heard of it. Despite the price tag.
Except... Since when is American Dream Captain America's daughter?

A couple of notes I've read online indicate that's an error.

A couple of notes I've read online indicate that's an error. That's pretty obvious. Clearly, whoever wrote the solicitation copy doesn't read the MC2 books.

And go take away a dollar from anyone who thought it would anything different. And then smack Jeph Loeb upside the head.

I figured that went without saying.
Also, the Sentry is dead! REJOICE!

Someone explain to me how the Sentry's death is worthy of a shockingly bad special edition tribute which approaches "Frontline 11" levels of awfulness, and yet the death of one of the oldest and most important characters in the Marvel Universe -- easily the most significant "death" of the event, even if we all know it won't stick -- is barely even worthy of second mention in the main book itself?

Because the movie's coming out next year.
And while the Sentry's death is awful in that way that Paul Jenkins is, it just affirms our joy that the Sentry and all his ilk will never be heard from again.

For those who are not members of Dreamwidth?
Because I don't want to register there just to look at one scan for idle curiosity.
(There's a red Hulk?)

Spoiler For Seige and It's Tie-Ins ------------ Loki amps the heroes up to fight Void, gets slaughtered by Void (but the Loki one-shot for Seige sets up Loki's inevitable resurrection, via a deal he cuts with Hela and Mephisto to basically come back to life with their help). Tony then drops Norman's Helicarrier onto Void, after Thor zaps him with mega-lightning. This causes him to turn into his civilian form, who immeadiately demands Thor kill him on the spot. Thor refuses at first, vowing to make sure Sentry rots in jail for the rest of his life for his crimes. So when he turns into Void again, Thor does the deed and then TOSSES SENTRY'S CORPSE INTO THE SUN!!!!!! Also, Norman tries to flee and gets smacked down by Volstagg of all people Only Dakkon escapes Dark Avengerswise. Scorp-Venom surrenders willingly while Bullseye and Moonstone try and flee when everything is said and done but Luke Cage and Ms Marvel beat their asses. Cap, for reasons too vague to mention, gives Miss Hand a "Get Out Of Jail Free Card" and lets her go after she claims that she was following orders as her defense. Hood gets Madam Masque to get her daddy Count Neferia to give him sanctuary/replicate the process that gave Neferia his super-powers in exchange for all of his money. The Avengers stop this from happening and we get a scene where Miss Marvel uses her Binary powers to make short work of Neferia as far as absorbing all of his energy attacks and holding him at bay while all three are captured. Afterwords, Tigra gloats about being able to kill Hood if she wanted too, but how he wasn't worth it. She then introduces Hood's GF and their child, as she gloats to him that he'll NEVER see his child again. Tigra also gives birth off-panel and she's hired one of the cat people to be her nanny. Taskmaster and Constrictor escapes and Taskmaster gets in one last stab at Norman (who left him partially buried in rubble) by way of revealing how he worked with Deadpool to fuck with Norman during the Deadpool/Thunderbolts X-Over. He convinces Constrictor to bail with him, as Constrictor sees Cap and Diamondback reuniting. Cap is happy to see her but Rachel confesses to loving Constrictor, who with Taskmaster's help flees right in front of the two. Afterwords, Cap offers her a chance to work for him in SHIELD coordinating the remaining Initiative teams still in play but Rachel tells him that she's not ready yet to take the job since she's still angsting away over Constrictor, who still has a set of Rachel's diamond weapons that he is carrying around as a keepsake. Left vague in all of this is the fate of USAgent (maimed by Nuke, who along with the rest of the Thunderbolts not named Ant Man and Palidan, are arrested in the wake). More confirmed however is the fall-out: the Registration Act is thrown out as condition of Cap taking over running SHIELD. However, Cap is keeping the Initiative going as a volunteer group. An Asgardian building linking Stark Tower to Asgard is set up replacing Sentry's home. Norman is facing HUGE jail time, based off of evidence that the Nazi scientist guy from The Initiative collected regarding Norman's crimes, which along with restoring Komodo's legs/powers, is used to get Cloud 9, himself, and Hardball full immunity...

For those who are not members of Dreamwidth? Because I don't want to register there just to look at one scan for idle curiosity. (There's a red Hulk?) Yes, for the last two years. All written by Jeph Loeb. Short version; it was supposed to be a big mystery. It turned out Red Hulk = General Thunderbolt Ross Red She-Hulk = Betty. The End.

www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=26457Oh god, Millar's going to do a superman pastiche. This will not end well. And on a similar theme, we've got JMS' upcoming run on the Superbooks, and his stated promise that his latest development will "bring Superman back to his roots" and "Get people talking". This also does not bode well, but let's see what developments can happen. Note that I do not consider these items mutually exclusive: Breaking the Super-Marriage/Restoring the Triangle - 50%. Remember, JMS isn't sorry that OMD happened, just that it "wasn't executed well". Socio-political commentary (I.E. Superman is made an outlaw as he's technically an illegal immigrant, or Superman steps on some political toes) - 75%. Heavy handed commentary? From JMS? Yeah, I'm putting this one as almost certain at some point on. Power levels changed/reduced - 80%. Seems to happen with every major maintenance team change, but I don't think it'll be particularly newsworthy. Clark Kent's job changes - 50%. Another longstanding tradition, particularly with JMS' statements about his own journalistic experiences and the current climate for print, this is another likely one. Superman's secret ID revealed to the world - 10%. Look, it's the only thing I can imagine being pulled that hasn't been done before in Superman comics, and it's the one that would be genuiniely interesting AND be newsworthy. But not freaking likely. Any other guesses?

Current rumor floating around is "social commentary/power decrease".
The rumored big plan for JMS's Superman run is that Clark's going to travel America, to try and fall back in love with Humanity following the whole "Earth wipes out his people" thing. And that he'll be doing this with a reduced power set, as far as going back to late 30s/early 40s Superman power set powers.
No clue about Lois Lane, though I should note that there are people in power in DC who DO hold the Clark/Lois marriage sacred (note how even Grant Fucking Morrison has to bow down to them). And given how OMD/BND has backfired horrifically on Marvel, NO ONE at DC probably will want to try and emulate THAT fail and AIDS debacle.
