If I was a betting man (I'm not) I'd say the book is being retooled, and they are wrapping up as many danglers as they can.

But then again, can anyone think of a successfully rebooted cartoon franchise? I mean, even Transformers did experience this kind of boost until the movie came out. Justice League?

Pretty much all of the inital Image Comics series, especially Liefeld's stuff. And yet Spawn and Savage Dragon... Still going strong. For a loose enough definition of "strong" Spawn is hovering around the 100 mark, and Dragon is selling around 6,000 copies a month.

And somehow, despite the restrictions of logic, the Borg Queen will end up being Davros in drag. ;D

There's actually one other show that can cross over with anything, just like the Middleman. So it makes sense to make those two cross over: The Middleman vs. Doctor Who. Go. Oh, that's easy. The O2STK? It's a front for the Celestial Intervention Agency.

The beauty of the Middleman is, you can conceivably cross it with anything. And you probably should. ;D

Dresden Files/Middleman.
Not for any logical reason, just because it would HAVE to be cool.

Second Simonson on Thor. Also Simonson on Orion And Simonson/Goodwin on Manhunter.
Plus, in the non-Walt category:

The Norsefire government of England needs to enforce fear in the streets in order to maintain control in the wake of the terrorist attacks of V, to distract the populace from his threat to blow up Parliment. So, in a drastic move, they are going to bring in a known criminal who will help to rally the populace. A foreign criminal with distinctive flare - and best of all, he's an American. Snake Plissken vs V. Make it really interesting... ESCAPE FROM SIN CITY.

If you don't slam the shit out of a creator for their mistakes, all you are doing is enabling them to be an asshole. Or, y'know, you could NOT READ IT. ;D

Honestly, why _should_ I care? In an industry where characters can be resurrected with the flimsiest excuses possible (hey, Harry!) a major franchise like Batman isn't going stay dead long.
I like FC more than Kirk does, but it's not going to rank as a modern classic.

Well, technically, Satan (aka Marduk Kurios) is someone else. Of course, he was killed, resurrected as his own grandson, aged, retconned, and probably completely ignored (what IS the status of Daimon's reign these days?), but he isn't Mephisto.
Then there's the "devil" who empowered Johnny Blaze, who wasn't Mephisto, then was, then wasn't again. But Ghost Rider continuity makes Hawkman look simple.
