I'm increasingly convinced that Randian libertarians are people who never grew up enough to grasp why the fantasy of living your entire life in a tree-fort away from the rest of the adult world is kind of completely impossible.
I remember thinking how cool that would be as a kid, until I started thinking about where my food would come from, or the electricity to power my appliances (both toys and non), or where I'd be able to get rid of my waste.
I was 8 years old when all of this occurred to me, by the way.

Sounds like a great idea to have "looser building codes" on a floating island. Nothing could go wrong there.

Sounds like a great idea to have "looser building codes" on a floating island. Nothing could go wrong there. Oh, absolutely. I'm certainly going to keep an eye on that -- especially with the combination of "few weapons restrictions" (which probably just means "no nukes allowed"). If I were a TV mogul, I'd buy in, just for the chance to put up a camera crew. Best Reality TV Conecpt evah.

So 188 congress critters signed the petition to impeach Philippine Supreme Court Chief Justice Renato Corona yesterday. The Senate will convene as an impeachment court next year. Took them long enough considering how Corona was appointed.
