Nuclear war would kill us and a lot of other things, but life would still exist in some form. Mythbusters tested the cockroaches myth. They will survive radiation levels that will kill humans, but other insects can do much better.

That was awesome, Paul.

In case you haven't noticed, the site doesn't allow hotlinking. Ah! Thanks for fixing it for me. It looked okay when I previewed but that was probably a cache thing. Most webcomics rely on ads or selling merchandise, which is hard to to do when people just embed the images elsewhere.

117) Full Metal Panic!: One Night Stand by Shouji Gatou. Got my copy yesterday at Power Books. Just under four weeks for the order. I think the manager of Comicopia mentioned (on Delphi) having problems with re-ordering TokyoPop stuff, since TP was more bookstore-oriented. Anyway, the second novel focuses on the Behemoth story line that comes in beween the two Gauron arcs (first and third novels). TP's light novel program seems to be on hold: no more FMP! volumes in the foreseeable future, though Amazon.com still has a listing for book four.

Man, that looks pretty sweet.
When I have a little more money in my PayPal account, I ought to commission something from Oni.

I'm very happy with my Acer Aspire 5570. Got it with a free extra year of warranty coverage, but out of warranty repairs are reasonably priced (unlike Apple's). I think a current model mid-range Aspire laptop should do fine (4920 series; Core 2 Duo, Vista Home Premium--not sure if you can downgrade to XP if you're interested in that route). If you've got money to burn, there's the Gemstone Blue, which is basically a Blu-ray player/laptop; the 16" model isn't too expensive.
ThinkPads are still good under Lenovo, but they are pricier than the average PC laptop.
Toshiba's Portege line is something I lust after, but they're marketed to (and priced for) the international business traveller.

Really ought to catch The Middleman now that it's on AXN Beyond. Missed the first two episodes already, though there should be reruns soon enough.

115) Japan Edge: The Insider's Guide to Japanese Pop Subculture, edited by Annette Roman. Basically the columnists from Viz's PULP manga magazine got together to write about anime, Japanese cult film, "noise", and Japanese music.

112) Master and Commander by Patrick O'Brian. Re-read. Still doesn't do anything for me. Maybe I'd enjoy the movie better.

My argument has always been: Human beings are crap when it comes to any kind of "Separate but Equal" (See any caste based Society for proof) arrangement. Some self-described feminists want girls-only schools, on the reasoning that being in schools with boys turns girls into subservient women. I wish I were making this up. Given that in the seventies ALL male-only colleges in the Philippines (save the Philippine Military Academy and seminaries) became co-ed, I find that line of thinking very regressive.

When is the final half of the final season starting, by the way? IIRC, early next year. I can check the TV Forum to make sure.
