Shit, sorry 'bout that. 5) Moore and Gibbons obtain the copyright to Watchmen by an odd twist of fate (everyone who wants a copy already has one). Who would publish it then? If everyone already has a copy, isn't the question of who publishes it from now on moot? True, but after reading Watching the Watchmen I thought there might be a market for a super special edition with Moore's participation. Obviously he'd never do one now while DC has the copyright.

Hopefully Sci Fi Channel Philippines airs this after finishing up BSG. Chances are the DVDs will be out locally first, though.

g.e-hentai.org/tag/akifuji+satoshiPretty comprehensive set of scans. The doujinshi on top is one I haven't seen before, so it's probably from one of those Japan-only P2P programs. I'm currently waiting for an English translation of "After School Rhapsody", the first story of his I ever read. Very sweet bit of student/teacher yuri. His more recent work, from about 2002 onward, is too hardcore and less sentimental. Also nearly uncensored, at least by Japanese standards. Almost no yuri, though.

1) For various reasons anime porn is more readily available than manga porn in the U.S. Comics porn in general doesn't seem to do well. Are the few U.S. companies that still bother to publish manga porn wasting their time?
2) Have you seen the Spectacular Spider-man cartoon? If so, what do you think of it?
3) Which, if any, company-wide crossover would you recommend to a casual superhero fan?
4) Comics on e-readers: yea or nay?
5) Moore and Gibbons obtain the copyright to Watchmen by an odd twist of fate (everyone who wants a copy already has one). Who would publish it then?

Hmm... Johann Chua! You're still kicking about, at least you were earlier today. 1. DC or Marvel contacts you and gives you free reign to reboot a title as you see fit with two conditions. The writer has to be from the US comics industry, and the artist has to be a manga-ka. So, what title, what writer and what artist? Birds of Prey, Greg Rucka, Satoshi Urushihara. Mostly to feed my taste in yuri, but I think it would work pretty well. Iron Man/Full Metal Panic! Arm Slaves vs. powered armor ought to be fun, not to mention throwing Tony Stark into the "Whispered" conspiracies. Anathem by Neal Stephenson. At first it seemed like a homage to A Canticle for Leibowitz, with cloistered scientists preserving the world's knowledge in between atomic wars, but then we get aliens communicating with mathematical theorems.... Don't want to spoil too much for those who haven't read it yet. The word games with Orth (Latin/Greek base) were fun and gave me something to do whole the plot unfolded (the book's a 1000 pager). Max Headroom. It's no longer 20 minutes into the future because we may not live that long. At least that's the impression you'd get with modern information overload. Edison Carter as news junkie/detective. Hardly any of the few movies I bother to watch are anywhere near overrated. Closest would probably be WALL-E. Loved it but haven't bothered rewatching on TV (other than quick glimpses) or DVD it since I saw it in theater.

IIRC Del Rey Manga first used the 3-in-1 omnibus format to finish a series started by another manga publisher (forgot the title). Next year they'll be using it for Suzuka 13/14/15. $22 for one big book instead of $14 each for three smaller ones is a good deal, though it does seem like the series isn't selling that well. Only two volumes of Suzuka were out this year. Probably more cost effective to complete the series with two omnibus volumes instead of 6 regular ones.
Wonder how they'll handle the cover art.

To wit(less): this world championship thing. Apparently, the NY Yankees won the world championship of something. I argued that it can't be a world championship if only one nation competes. Weird thing is that the Little League World Series does have teams from all over the world. Are there not enough pro leagues around the world to do the same with the "Big" World Series?

Caught a glimpse of Wizards of Waverly Place now and then on the Disney Channel. Most interesting thing for me is that the parents are played by David DeLuise and Maria Canals. In other words, Sgt. Brutto and Hawkgirl got married.

Jard: I'd read Girl Genius, but I'm so far behind that I keep wanting to buy the print editions instead. Alas for lack of disposable income. Slight problem with the print edition is that the Foglios can't afford to keep the whole series in print at the same time. Of course I don't have the spare cash to buy what is in print right now (vols. 2 & 4, pre-order of vol. 6 2nd ed., and omnibus 1) anyway.

"Cougar" is the universally-recognized term for "older woman pursuing younger men." "Puma" became nationally recognized in 2008 as the term for "Hillary Clinton supporter who would rather vote Republican than vote for Obama." Maybe Jennifer Anniston is the new Bravestarr.

Sometimes it seems that most Filipinos just want to be American, or at the very least turn the Philippines into a close facsimile of the U.S.A. Hollywood version, of course, instead of looking at other Asian countries or Latin America as models of development. The U.S. model only worked for the U.S.
I wonder whether most Chinese immigrants came here because it was harder to get into the U.S. Greenhills (which is mostly upper middle-class ethnic Chinese) is filled with streets named after American presidents and states. Of course that wave of immigration mostly happened before martial law, when we were richer than Japan (thanks in part to preferential tariffs on our exports to the U.S.).
Every now and then I hear that America is an experiment. Does that mean Americans are labrats?

Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile made the most assholish remark possible about Cory Aquino last year. To wit: she must know who really killed her husband, because she was the Goddamn President. Never mind that as minister of defense in the Marcos regime, Enrile is one of the most likely suspects for the actual mastermind of the Ninoy Aquino assassination. What makes it worse? He makes his disappearing pre-paid cell phone loads a fucking national issue. Nice to know you have your priorities straight, Johnny.
Imelda Marcos's poor little rich bitch act is getting on my nerves as well. She claims she's desperately poor due to the mean old government sequestering all her (probably ill-gotten) assets, yet she can afford to attend high society parties in style. Just once, I'd like for one of the corruption/plunder charges against her to result in a conviction that sticks.
