Because if you're not watching it, you should be.
I am loving this show, if just because of the social commentary. A poly/group marriage (even if it is the one of the creepy monotheist) and a gay mobster in a stable relationship in the first three episodes? As main characters?
What are the odds that Caprica's final shot is an old Bill Adama sitting on his mountaintop talking to Laura's ghost (and/or Sharon) about how he made a career out of killing copies/partial copies of his sister? Or are they just going to twist the knife in us instead of him by never letting him know?
Cylon talking in a young girl's voice? REALLY creepy. But not as creepy as Grandma Adama
I'm getting the impression that this is much more Jane Espenson's baby than Ron Moore's, and really, that would have been a good thing before the massive punt that was the end of BSG.

Seconding all of this.
While the temptation is to dismiss it as "BSG-lite," with its smaller, younger cast, its sunnier, less-contained world and its simpler plots, I'm continually struck by the strengths of its social, cultural and political world-building.
It's gonna sound crazy, but merciless mobster Sam Adama is one of the most positive, impressive portrayals of a gay man that I've ever seen on TV. He has a loving, genuine relationship with his partner, he's both smarter and tougher than hell, and he's fascinatingly nuanced.
Plus, check out the impact he has on Bill Adama's worldview:
"So, should I go back to class?"
"Nah ... once you start down a path, it's usually best just to keep going."
From BSG, it sure looks like he took THAT lesson to heart.

Did you see the look on Grandma's face when she realized he was calling off the hit? *shudder*
My only real concern so far is the scenes with the cops that I thought were probably lifted straight from someone's CSI spec. Hopefully that's not a regular occurrence.

Hopefully Sci Fi Channel Philippines airs this after finishing up BSG. Chances are the DVDs will be out locally first, though.

Also, I think the simpler plots comment isn't really fair. We're four episodes in. By that point in Battlestar, we'd had 33, Water, Bastille Day and Act of Contrition, and Caprica certainly doesn't support as much tension as any one of those episodes, much less all of them together. But it can't since it's a completely different show. You can't judge it against Battlestar.
Besides, I'd challenge you to find any television show ever that had as powerful an opening as the first 3-4 episodes of BSG.
