The final issue of Secret Invasion opens up with The Sentry up in space, orbiting the earth, whilst watching the super humans of earth fight against the Skrull army. The Sentry is discussing the events in a internal monolouge with his counterpart The Void. Realising how desperate the situation is, and how unprepared he is, The Void convinces The Sentry to give over his body and mind to him. Upon retrieving control, The Void flies down to join the heroes.
Upon arriving, The Void decapitates, and kills, The Wasp just before she inadvertantly explodes and kills the superheros of earth. With their wild card now gone, the skrulls flee earth. The heroes and villains of earth celebrate their victory, but during the post war celebrations, Wolverines realises that Queen Veranke's body has vanished. Iron Man returns to the battle field, and when addressing the heros of earth reveals himself to be a Skrull when removing his helmet (however he himself is unaware that he is a skrull). The Iron Man Skrull is arrested by Sheild agents.
Secret Invasion ends with a series of cliffhangers; Realising that it is his technology and knowledge that resulted in the Skrull being able to invade, Reed Richards and his Fantastic Four take it upon themselves to pursue the Skrull armada and attempt to track diwn and rescue the kidnapped superheros, including Spider Woman, Yellow Jacket and Nick Cage / Jessica Jones's kidnapped child.
In addition to this, and in the light of Iron Man having transpired to be a Skrull, Norman Osbourn becomes the new director of Sheild, with his first call of action to disband what is left of the Avengers and to reform them under his own "dark" vision. [17]
