I can't fault your honesty, but I also don't know if I can - or even should - "correct" this, simply because, as anyone who's met me in real life will attest to, how I write is how I talk - like, almost exactly - so to write any other way would feel dishonest to me.

I'm not saying you should change, but you should be aware of the effect your writing style has on people. I generally don't mind because I know you (well, you know, kind of) and you are usually entertaining and you think before you type, but sometimes it gets a bit much. Eh, anyway. No big deal.  |

I kind of thought that if he'd written it as is, plus. " AND WILL FUCK YOUR MOM IF SHE LOOKS LIKE LIZ SLADEN BECAUSE I'M A LIBERAL RACIST AND I HAVE THE NUSPIDEY NUMBERS TO PROVE IT," his portrayal of Kirk would've been dead-on.
 ... "Racist"? I mean, the rest is pretty accurate (except you forgot "I WAS IN TEH MILITARY!!!111"), but ... "racist"? Really? Yes, really. But it's the "liberal racist" combo. If you re-read your posts, you do a lot of cheat-beating about how you're a liberal, but even teh (no typo, see your own post about it) most liberal liberal is deeply racist at heart even if they don't think they are... (and you'd be off on another rant). Those are usually triggered by Doctor Who subjects. |

One word people:
PERSPECTIVE
-Blogposts have a shelflife of about a day and a half, and are remembered about half as long - meaning that we've been talking about this post for LONGER THAN IT COULD HAVE POSSIBLY MATTERED.
-the only reason that this blog would have a higher readership than say, Kirk's LJ, is because it's "the official" blog of the second most popular "mainstream" comics inforag. Hell, the only reason it's even THAT popular is because that's where Rich Johnston hangs his cyberhat. I go to that site a few times a week for exactly these reasons:
1) Lying in the Gutters - because I like to keep informed and keep praying for some good news.
2) Permenant Damage - because Steven Grant is an actual SMART commentator, unlike the blogger.
3) weekly previews - to take images for poster fodder.
So all this back and forth about voice and whether or not Kirk is OTT, well, seriously? doesn't matter.
Man, things are deteriorating when *I* become the voice of moderation.
I blame you, Jens. You're a bad influence

I check out CBR for LITG, Permanent Damage and Comic Book Urban Legends revealed. I've never been to their message boards. Without this thread, and Kirk's mention on it on his LJ, I never would have known that -- who is that? -- even existed. It is, however, a neat excuse to make fun of Kirk, something to brighten up an otherwise extremely dull weekend. Man, things are deteriorating when *I* become the voice of moderation. (Takes a pointed look at Mike's status and whistles innocently.) |

I picture him as the sort of person at a dinner party who always talks a little bit louder than "indoor" volume, talks with his mouth full, and about five minutes after I mention that I read comics and he's started into his rant and is just getting to the part where he's talking about how he just doesn't get Jimmy Corrigan, I throw food at him until he stops and then I say, "You know what? I lied. I've never read a comic book in my life and never will."

Does he pay your rents? Does he feed you out of his budget? Does he have, in any way, shape or form, any effect on your lives beyond he mentioned you in some post he made on CBR?
