But yeah, can you spell "desperate?" The people behind the new Spider-Movie might not be able to spell it (or perhaps they are, who knows), but it seems they sure know what it feels like.

Wait.... let me get this straight.... you guys are still reading Spider-Man? Or for that matter... anything at Marvel? I told you guys to cut that out years ago. Bad for your blood pressure. No one ever listens. I haven't bought a Marvel comic in years. And, thanks to scans_daily, I don't even Byrne-steal anymore. There are basically a couple of indy books I buy, and the occasional trade. That's it.

No one ever listens. I faded out of comics around the time of Civil War, being disgusted to the extent that I didn't even bother to steal them. I Byrne-steal an occasional issue, and I stay up on gossip (which is far more entertaining than the comics themselves). But comics themselves? Star Wars Knight Errant, because I need to read that for work. True Story, Swear to God, the Titan James Bond Omnibuses and the occasional 1970s/1980s TPB are the only things I still buy for pleasure. Seconding this. Atomic Robo, Love and Capes, PS238. Mostly sitting on the sidelines laughing as these assclowns commit corporate suicide using the money of their megacorp masters.

I read the free online Robo stuff, and I'll definitely give it a shot once I have once again disposeable income.

He's one part walking distillation of every internal contradiction in stupid sci-fi origin stories, one part archetypical vainglorious mad scientist ego and one part hilarious fantastic racism ("Deception! MAMMAL deception!").

The costume from the porn parody looks better than the one from the new big-budget movie. I still prefer Scarlett Johanssen as Black Widow, though.

OK, I normally hate to post in this thread, but I want to draw attention to this (specifically to Kirk) and it's at least tangential to the topic.
I watched "the Adjustment Bureau", which basically boils down to a couple fighting for a relationship against a powerful group that wants their relationship not to exist because it's not part of a vaguely defined plan.
I cannot imagine a better way to put down the OMD crowd than this movie.

On the one hand, it's really hard not to read this as an implicit admission on Marvel's part that Slott has failed.
On the other, what I've heard from a few independent sources In The Know is that it's much more indicative of the fact that Axel Alonso REALLY likes Joe Madureira, no matter how much of a lazy, worthless fuck of a manga-aping artist the guy is.

Kirk, this offers you a unique opportunity to sabotage a comic book. Just send Joe Mad (anonymously, if you like) a computer game. Kill his productivity for the next 15 years.

And congratulations to Kirk for his internet-Aikido victory over Stephen Wacker.
