Jard,
It's NOT over.
In fact, the writers have all but stated that Gwen Stacy stand-in Carlie Cooper, a.k.a. the most uninteresting girl in the world, will be Peter's new "permanent" girlfriend, with Mary Jane once again acting as the "spoiler," just as Quesada and Brevoort and Stern and everyone else at Marvel has said that she's "supposed to be."
The ONLY reason they're bringing her back into the title at ALL is to try and force it down our throats that, as far as the current editorial regime is concerned, they will NEVER be a couple again.

Jard: to my understanding, the only difference between BAD and post-BAD is that after the so-called end, it will no longer be rotating writers but just Dan Slott, and that the publication frequency changes.
Nothing else changes.

Nothing else changes. It's telling that even Marvel realizes what a sales loser BND is that they have to try and TRICK people into thinking it's over, to the point that the October solicits advertise every single issue as "the end of Brand New Day," with one issue's solicit using that turn of phrase TWICE for the SAME ISSUE. In other words, they're hoping that people will be misled, as Jard was, into believing that the retcon will be undone.

Misunderstanding. I don't care if it's undone or not at this point.
What struck me is that the description Slott gives for the character of Mary Jane is essentially, that of Wife.
Only without the marital relations.
Which makes the whole thing basically
a.) useless. b.) Even more blatantly misogynistic than it was before.
Think about it. They're basically giveing him Mary Jane as the wifely support system, without things like Fidelity, Commitment... etc. So he can "play the field."
I still have no intention of buying another Marvel comic again until the current regime of dunderheads running it is gone.

Could use a touch of polish, but I'll still give these an A for effort. A fangirl friend suggested I buy the blank cover copies of this issue and commission artists to do Spider-porn on them. I told her that certain lines I will not cross, not even for porn, and giving money to Quesada is one of them.

So Kirk, what did you think of Quesada's "One More Day didn't happen in the new continuity, since Mephisto changed things, so Spider Man didn't make a deal with the devil" dance.

Don't know about Kirk, but I find it to be bullshit that Quesada couldn't just do the more obvious thing spin-wise: Loki PRETENDED to be Mephisto, for the evilulz of wiping out the marriage form continuity simply to remove from history the "favor" he owes Spider-Man, which Loki wanted off the table because it could have led to Spider-Man evoking it to kill in it's tracks, Loki's plans for Norman Osborn and the overall plot of "Siege".

I find it hilarious that Quesada fucked up so badly that he had to try and fix it as much as he could, without fixing the biggest part of his fuck-up or admitting that he fucked up in the first place, and the end result was an even greater fuck-up than the original fuck-up that he was trying to fix. It's a case of failing at failing without it being a double-negative.

"Posing in the Shadows"
"What is 'The pose used on every Marvel movie poster', Alex"
Seriously. Thor you could explain away with drama. Cap is a war movie. But now, even friggin' SPIDEY is shadowbound? Bring back the teal & orange!
