The lineup of the post-Secret Invasion Mighty Avengers revealed -- and it is a fucking doozy, especially with the presence of someone who probably holds the record for "longest gap between terms as an Avenger." Nerddom united is already burning up with this lineup (particularly since it doesn't even seem feasible for all these people to be in the same room together, let alone on a team.) It could turn out really, really well, or be an utter disaster. Given Bendis' involvement, I'm not exactly hopeful, but hell, this looks to generate the kind of David Michiline/Jim Shooter/Roy Thomas sort of internal drama that Bendis might actually be good at. Massively spoilery image, so cut and paste the link: www.funnybookbabylon.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/secretproject.jpgThoughts?

Final judgement will be withheld until it's revealed WHICH Vision we are getting and that it's actually Hulk.

I'm not even sure who all of these people are. For example, who's the guy with the goggles and the gun supposed to be?

I'm not even sure who all of these people are. For example, who's the guy with the goggles and the gun supposed to be? Okay, gang, if you haven't figured out there's SPOILERS now, a little late for you . Best guess, from left to right, are: Scarlet Witch (getting a universal "YeahbutWHA?" from the crowd) Most likely Hank Pym (insect-like theme to the outfit, science-style gun) Jocasta Iron Man Unknown (early guesses say Gravity) The Incredible Herc Vision (Iron Lad version) Hulk (maybe) Stature (Cassie Lang, the late Ant-Man's daughter, former Young Avenger) The funny thing is, about half these characters could conceivably be someone else: Scarlet Witch might not be Wanda Gun Science guy is not fully identifiable Jocasta is probably Jocasta Iron Man: it wouldn't be the first time someone else was in the suit, and based on the image angle, we can't absolutely rule out War Machine Mystery Guy: Possibly vaguely drawn on purpose Herc: Okay, that's probably Herc Vision: It's the mind of YOUNG FUCKING KANG merged with the Vision who himself had his brain patterned on Simon Williams. Depending on which exact personality is in play here, there could be a love quadrangle with Stature (Young Kang's squeeze), Jocasta, or Hulk: It could always be Hulkling, although that's exceptionally unlikely given the profile. But Hulkling's half-Skrull, so it's feasible. If it IS Hulk, it'll be damned interesting, given that it has to mean a re-emergence of Banner or Planet Hulk personality, as Green Hulk is in dumb-smash mode these days. Of course, it's a non-colored page, so there's an outside chance it's Red Hulk. Still, putting Hulk back as an active Avenger is a bold move, given that he was last at active status in Volume 1, issue TWO. (Which would make him the longest active-to-active gap -- there was talk of possibly rejoining during the Smart Banner Hulk era, but it never went anywhere. The lineup makes for a hell of an interesting dynamic no matter how you split it.

Proof positive of everything ever said about the criticism of superhero comics on the WEF. No matter how crappy it gets, people will keep buying it. Looks like Radioactive Man, by the by.

I'm going to call it right now; this is just a cover for one of those after-the-event specials, like the CW: the Initiative one-shot that gives you "the new Status Quo" (for the next 4 months, at least)
Now as to this so-called 'roster' -Scarlet Witch - whatever, don't care. -Jocasta - yeah, she'll be on Slott's MA team, we already knew that -Goggles-boy - Either Pym, Hawkeye, or possibly Noh-Varr. -Iron-Man - could be IM, could be War Machine, could be Ezekiel Stane inside the armor. No spoilers there -Captain Generic - Could be Gravity, 3D-Man/Triathalon, Radioactive man, Wonder-Man, Justice (in a variant on his old Marvel boy costume), The Fucking Sentry or just about anyone. -Herc - yeah, I have my doubts about him being on any team. -Hulk - Could be Green, Red, or Hulkling. Pick whatever makes you sleep easier at night -Vizh and Stature - well, with any luck this will put to bed any hope of Heinberg coming back for Young Avengers, and thank god for that.
And that's the extent to which I can possibly be made to care.
