I don't look through it through the political lens (aside from which, Hawkeye's not a guy I woulc necessarily consider liberal). Here's the thing - Hawkeye is far and away the LEAST powerful Avenger - no powers, no "peak human physical conditioning", just a bow and arrow (some of them tricked out, granted) and BALLS. Also, Hawkeye was the first man to whom Tony Stark offered the shield of Captain America. He's that good. And has that much integrity: he refused.

And when the world had gone to hell at Morgana le Fay's hand, and all the Avengers were brainwashed save for Captain America, Cap had to recruit Avengers one-by-one, depending heavily on their commitment to the Avengers themselves. As he told Hawkeye -- there was only really one choice for the first guy to recruit.

Hmmm.... I'm going to have to focus on only a few regulars, simply because I haven't been around for a while. JLKKirk: Green Arrow. Passionate to the point of anger, and a bit of a horndog. Paul: Elongated Man. Happily domestic, but still enjoys the offbeat. Mike: J'onn. Keeps things going even when everyone else is gone. Jens: Hawkman. Has a different perspective due to his heritage, can get mad sometimes. Jesse: Guy Gardner. Of the two candidates I was given, I think the JLU Question is a better fit, simply because I have a mild case of apohenia (and Babs is smarter than I am ) K-Avengers (this one is harder, I must admit) Kirk: Hercules. Enjoys life, but still has a passion for fighting the good fight. Paul: Hawkeye. The crusading hero, but also the one who brings stability. Mike: Cap, for the same reason I gave him J'onn. Jens: Namor. Sometimes loses it, but always for a good reason. Jesse: Quicksilver. Equally as hotheaded, but not always justifiable. Me: Dane Whitman. Been around forever, but tends to disappear for long stretches of time. *sigh*

What I'm finding most hilarious is that I'm either being matched up with characters I actually like (Cap/J'Onn) or characters I actually really really REALLY don't like at all (Batman/Tony)

I felt like the DC suggestions fit me better than the Marvel ones. Then again, I don't feel all that heroic most of the time...

Here's the thing - Hawkeye is far and away the LEAST powerful Avenger - no powers, no "peak human physical conditioning", just a bow and arrow (some of them tricked out, granted) and BALLS. Hawkeye's bow has a 300 pound draw. Which means he may not be super-strong, but he's considerably stronger than a normal human being.

Thank you for further justifying my case for you Jard. But yeah, he's probably stronger than say...Dane Whitman, but Dane has a bunch of magical do-dads. Hawkeye...look, Hawkeye decided it would be a good idea to try arrows vs. IRON MAN. that kind of takes serious guts, you know?
OK, granted, for the Black Widow, most guys would try wrestling Iron man in boxer shorts, but the point remains....

Alright Jens - go ahead and give us the Legion of Doom Kbox style. I know you've been waiting for it.

Okay. The Legion of Doom. Which, despite the name, has nothing to do with DOOM. It's the Super-Friends's version of the Injustice League. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legion_of_Doom_%28Super_Friends%29Which means I don't get to be Red Skull. I'll do the easy one first: Jesse is Bizarro. Because of his frequently bizarre logic and mannerisms. (I'd give him Joker, but Joker isn't on the Legion.) Kirk is The Scarecrow, who knows what fears lurk in the hearts of men, and who delights in bringing them to light. Jard is Gorilla Grodd. He's smart, but people tend to underestimate him (at their own peril) because of his appearance. Michael is Sinestro. A natural born leader, fearless and rational. He coulda been a contender, if it hadn't been for that meddling Jordan. Paul is Lex Luthor. The brains of the group. Joe is Riddler. He uses his own brand of insanity to confuse and befuddle his enemies. Anders is Solomon Grundy. There is not really evil in his heart, but he will not be attacked for nothing. Johann is Toyman. He just wants to play.

I'm gonna have to agree with yours, simply given the fact we're restricting to Legion of Doom (Injustice League might be a bit different).
But to add Mario = Brainiac. I trust this requires no explanation.
Jens = Captain Cold. Seems like a man with a lack of emotions, until you plumb deeper and see it's all emotions underneath.
Now, expanding it out to the full gamut of DCU villains in the Injustice League....
Jesse = Joker. We've all made the comparison, and it fits. Kirk gets bumped up to Lex Luthor because he's the only one who tolerates the Joker.
Jard = Deathstroke, the professional who you do not mess with.
Paul = Grodd as the smart guy who's not putting up with a lot of crap.
Jens = Mr. Freeze - for the reasons I put him as Captain Cold above.
Joe = T.O. Morrow, because you never know what he's going to come up with next.
Anders = yeah, he can still keep Grundy
Johann is still Toyman though.

I had a feeling that I'd get picked for him. Which, by an obscure Federal statute, requires me to post this: "I just want some pants! A decent pair of pants!"

Gah. I'd completely forgotten Mario. I second the Mario = Brainiac pick.
Mario: Clearly, Batman designed Brainiac's outfit, considering how it shares aspects with Robin's.
