I'm crossposting this to SA and Kbox, because there's a lot of overlap, and I'm thinking that if we do this, I'll combine the lists.
The idea:
Let's have a Christmas gift exchange. An el cheapo one. If anyone is interested in participating, I imagine it like this:
Everyone who wants to participate enters their name in this thread (or the matching one on the sister forum). I'll compile a final list with every participant.
Everyone sends one gift to the next name on the list. Since I want to avoid a direct gift exchange (although what you set up offlist is none of my business), this will only work if we get at least three participants.
The gifts are not supposed to cost any money, except for postage, envelope or box, perhaps gift wrapping paper and a card. You pick something you have at home that you think the person you're assigned might like/enjoy/have fun with.
And that's it. Let me give you an example, to clarify.
I initiate this, so my name's on the list anyway. Let's say Mario, Kirk and Paul also join in. I send Mario a boardgame that I liked but have no more use for (nobody to play with), Mario sends Kirk his Doctor Who porn collection, Kirk sends Paul one of those autographed pictures of Sarah Jane Smith that he has in triplicate anyway, and Paul sends me a spare sonic screwdriver.
Everybody puts those gifts with the other Giftmas stuff, and opens them whenever they traditionally open their Giftmas presents.
That's it. That's all there is to it. Anyone want to join in?
I'll keep this open until November 20, I'm arbitrarily declaring that the deadline for registration.
