Only 59??? What the fuck??? That's two years younger than my dad!  Pretty much everything he did from the mid-90s 1989 on was unwatchable, and yet, he OWNED teen sex comedies and dramedies in the '80s so thoroughly that filmmakers who haven't even SEEN his stuff are STILL aping it to this day. And as sad as it is to say, he's probably the only director who ever managed to utilize John Candy's full potential, for both comedy and pathos. Also worth noting? He's pretty much the only teen sex comedy/dramedy filmmaker during the '80s whom I can remember who actually made films from the female point of view, which probably played no small part in Molly Ringwald's stardom. |
