The day after Ed McMahon, the afternoon after Farrah Fawcett, Michael Jackson dead at 50 of Cardiac Arrest. I hate to say these things come in threes, but ... yeah. I wish I could say Jackson's death was surprising, either, but ... yeah. I dread the autopsy photos being leaked online.

The day after Ed McMahon, the afternoon after Farrah Fawcett, Michael Jackson dead at 50 of Cardiac Arrest. Not much of a difference. They can just put the wax figure from Madame Tusseaud's up on the stage. That one looked more alive than the original anyway.

I'm going to sound like a complete asshole here, but what the hey.
Ok, so a rich eccentric musician died. Yes, he was very good. And he may or may not have done some bad things. And he had a troubled life in some ways. This is sad.
You know what's more sad?
The permenant ADD of Western society. Fuck, I imagine that North Korea could nuke Seoul, The Iranian army could gun down protesters or anyone wearing green by the truckload and make a pyramid out of their corpses, and China could just go and make Taiwan its bitch and we wouldn't even notice it until Monday morning.
Priorities. Our society may not have them.

I've had about five conversations with people today on the same lines.

You're absolutely right, Michael.

*blinks*
OK...so, me, Jard, and Jens agree on something. Yeah, all we now is for Jason, Kirk and Jesse to chime in, and either I'm going to have sing Kumbaya and hand out smores or I'm going to check myself in.
Ok...yeah, weirdness.

Yeah, all we now is for Jason, Kirk and Jesse to chime in, and either I'm going to have sing Kumbaya and hand out smores or I'm going to check myself in. Ok...yeah, weirdness. I kind of feel bad for his kids, except for the fact that I suspect their lives will be better off without him as a dad, and I kind feel bad for Paul, who now has to fight Sony for the rights to his own goddamn songs, but the fact that there are people who are 10 years younger than me who are all OMG THIS IS SUCH A SHOCK ... yeah, I'm really not getting that. If it's because he was a great musician, well, yeah, he WAS, but he's been dogshit on that front since Clinton was president, and if it's because it's such a tragedy, the sad fact of the matter is that his life was already fucked up past the point of no return, and it's rare that I say this about anyone whom I don't dislike personally (and really, I had nothing against the guy), but dying now was probably the best thing left to him. So, yeah, count me in as agreeing with you all.

The day after Ed McMahon, the afternoon after Farrah Fawcett, Michael Jackson dead at 50 of Cardiac Arrest. I've noticed that Star World has been showing a lot of Charlie's Angels "minisodes" in between hour-long shows. All featuring Farrah Fawcett, of course. Almost sure they stopped showing minisodes from other series. Inmates in Cebu did a memorial performance of their Thriller dance.

I was out in the city yesterday, and all around the Alster there were mini-shrines for Jackson.
This has reached the point where it makes me violently ill. If they feel they have to worship a has-been whose best years had been 20 years ago, and who hasn't made anything worth listening to since the mid-1990s, who if he weren't a celebrity and therefore to be considered "eccentric" would be termed "bugfuck crazy" and probably locked away...
... they should worship him at the special shrines set up all over the city's stores, where they sell his CDs and DVDs. And not drip frakking wax all over the city.

But... I watched the Thriller video this afternoon. Back in the 1980s, Jackson was genius.
