www.therealitycheck.org/?p=11294The Cuntwad Party (AKA the Tea Party) have recently discovered Ed Brubaker's recent issue of Captain America where Captain America bashes them as racist hate-mongers. Needless to say they aren't amused...

and even knowing that I tried reading the comments.
I'm officially ashamed to be human.

Best Analysis Here, for my money. comicsworthreading.com/2010/02/10/rage-inducing-linkblogging/Now, my thoughts. I for one, am happy with the egg on Marvel's face. Now let's see Joey Q (whom, as I've pointed out, is desperately trying to deny the fact that he is now THE OLD GUARD) make another statement about how he's so big on controversy and making it sell. We now have proof that whatever claims he makes about being edgy, he'll back off the minute he has to deal with a media that is even slightly unfriendly. And as to Mark Waid feeling "ashamed"...well, that's kind of funny, given his last Spider-Man arc had the Tea Party-stand-ins as dupes of Electro. Maybe he's just jealous no one called him out? And as for being 'ashamed", I'd be curious to see what he thinks he can do other than state it. Will we see another tea-party based storyline from him in Spidey? Not Likely. Anyway, those are my thoughts.

In Waid's defense, the Tweet that I read had him ashamed that Marvel caved in to Fox.

Actually, that's kind of my point - he's ashamed of Marvel, so what?

Actually, that's kind of my point - he's ashamed of Marvel, so what? The way you put it, it sounded as if he had been ashamed for Marvel having offended the teabaggers.

Sorry if it came up that way - no it's more like "OK, so you're ashamed of Marvel - are you actually going to do something about it other than talk?"

You know the funny thing about Marvel Comics?
It's a corporation. Owned by Disney.
Does it really surprise ANYONE that they backed away from this as fast as possible?

It's only surprising in that Marvel likes to promote themselves as bad-boys for whom any publicity is good publicity. This puts the final nail in that coffin.

Yes, but was that before or after Disney bought them?

Constant, as far as I've ever seen.
