Really ought to catch The Middleman now that it's on AXN Beyond. Missed the first two episodes already, though there should be reruns soon enough.

Late-breaking nerdglee moment!
In one of those "holy shit, I'm so glad i have Tivo so I can rewind and confirm that THIS ACTUALLY HAPPENED", the RickRolling phenomenon is finally drawn to its logical conclusion as the Cartoon Network float at the Macy's Parade is Rickrolled ... BY RICK ASTLEY HIMSELF.

Hard to believe I forgot this one when considering "The Dark Knight." It's a different kind of nerdglee, but as nerds, deep down we really, really, REALLY want to see the heroic moments where people finally get it together -- it's the "regroup and rally" scene that's been missing from Marvel comics for years now that has really disappointed us, after all.
The finest superhero moral moment of the year wasn't in a superhero comic and it wasn't even delivered by a superhero. It's actually one of the finest moral moments in the superhero medium in the last decade.
"Now gimme that remote ... and I'll do what you should've done ten minutes ago."

Oh yeah, that was awesome.
Unlike the guy on the other boat finally being unable to push the button. That was typical Hollywood bullshit - there wasn't a single person among those, what, couple of hundred? who was willing to send a bunch of hardened criminals to hell so that they all could live? Yeah, right.

Just tuned in to the Animax-Asia English dub of Toward the Terra, then spotted Charmaine Cordoviz doing her bishounen voice. Seems like a Telesuccess job going by the other voices (like Dada Carlos) I recognize. First Philippine English-dubbed anime to be broadcast internationally since Akazukin Cha-Cha on Cartoon Nework Asia in 1998.
The Animax India forums indicates that Animax-Asia is now sourcing dubs from the Philippines, so I guess this is a side-effect of the call center boom: everyone's brushing up on spoken English.

Minor Nerdglee:
The Current season of Smallville, and seeing an iteration of the Justice League: Dinah, Ollie, and Fricking Aquaman owning.
And at the same time, the fact they are clearly setting up for a major Justice League/Injustice Gang, as we've seen Tess Mercer already recruit Plastique and, if I'm not mistaken, Shadow Thief.
Plus, you know, Doomsday. So yeah, when it all hits the fan (and it will)...well, it's Smallville, so chances are it'll probably suck, but there's hope right?
Right?
yeah, I probably shouldn't even put that much up.

Matt Wagner's Zorro. It's impressively structured, and goddamn if it doesn't take the kitchen sink approach - Secret societies, Native American Spiritwalks, and PIRATES!
This is a badass approach to an origin story, and yeah, it's worth it.

TELEVISION: Kinda sad that there’s not much to go with here, but that’s what a writer’s strike gets you. I’m hoping Heroes eventually brings us awesomeness on the level of Doctor Who/The Master/Sulu all arguing again, and 30 Rock is destined for nerdy greatness. Your thoughts? It occurs to me the Star Wars-themed episode of "Deal or no Deal" damn near comes close to nerdglee. Not only the Slave Leia models (seriously, you knew I'd be all about that, even if the costumes were only moderately decent), but also a pitch-perfect Darth Vader (even though I knew it was impossible, I was hard-pressed to believe it WASN'T James Earl Jones on the voice.) But the best part had to be, oddly enough, the Stormtrooper segment, in which Carrie Fisher is brought out for the obligatory "star who gives moral support" role, and not only does she look better than she has in years, she starts hanging all over the contestant's husband like he's her high school crush. I think if the lady would have turned around she would not have been happy with all the attention. It was just Carrie being Carrie -- to be honest, it wasn't even 1 percent flirtatious -- but damn, was it fun.
