Superman to Mongul. "Burn."
From the Walt Simonson run. Odin "For Asgard!" Thor "For Midgard!" Loki "For Myself!"

No offense to Ahnold, but the book version is badass beyond belief: The problem with the book version is that it's so full of awesome in its entirety that there is no way to pick just one moment.

From the Walt Simonson run. Odin "For Asgard!" Thor "For Midgard!" Loki "For Myself!" I always loved that panel. Summed up their primary motivations in six words.

Speaking of Loki, there is one comic -- I forget which -- where his trickster nature comes through. I think it was a miniseries.
Loki and one of those cosmic gamers have a contest. The cosmic gamer picks his champions, and declares that he plays to win. Loki says he plays not to lose.
The contest involves pitting the superheroes against each other, of course, and just as naturally, once they figure it out they arrange for neither side to win. It's a draw.
Which means that the cosmic gamer hasn't won. Neither has Loki, but since he only played to not lose, a draw is enough as the winning condition for the wager with the cosmic gamer.

This is a good badass resource. Check out the most current entry for a real-life superhero. No, not one of those clowns who dress up as real-life superheroes, but someone who actually dives into a tsunami to rescue his family, and then rides off into the sunset, vowing to save as many people as he can. badassoftheweek.com/list.html

"This is Ambassador DeLenn of the Minbari. Babylon 5 is under our protection. Withdraw. Or be destroyed."
"Negative. We have authority here. Do not force us to engage your ships."
"Why not? Only one human captain has ever survived battle with a Minbari Fleet. He is behind me. You or in front of me. If you value your lives, be somewhere else."

Speaking of chills, this gets me every time:
Arise! Arise, riders of Théoden!
Spears shall be shaken! Shields shall be splintered! A sword day! A red day! Ere the sun rises!
Ride now! Ride now! Ride! Ride for ruin and the world's ending!
Death! Death! Death!

"I am a warrior. Let the battle be joined."
"What's a warrior without weapons, eh?" "A warrior still."
"What can you possibly do?" "Improvise."
Seriously, just watch the bloody thing

One of the most badass scenes in comics history: BOOKS OF MAGIC, the original mini. Zatanna has taken Tim Hunter to a magic club for Halloween (REAL magic, not stage). However, she didn't know Tim had a price on his head. These are the next 2 pages:
