Anyone got an opinion on the V remake? I'm cautiously optimistic, though there seems risk of the one-note hammering that turned me off Heroes.

Well, in my experience that's pretty much par for the course for any TV show. So far I've only run into two things that have really annoyed me: the fifth column shouldn't have had much difficulty warning the Earth governments about there being aliens living on the planet and how the hell did the girl get out of the FBI agent's house without her seeing the uniform?
Oh, three things: why do the V's call themselves V's?

Oh, three things: why do the V's call themselves V's? I haven't seen this remake yet, and don't plan to -- wake me up when Hollywood has a somewhat more original idea (oh, hi there Dexter and Castle). In the original, V was something tagged by the resistance. V stood for victory. V could also mean Visitors, which was what the aliens were called. The aliens never called themselves anything in the original.

Yeah, I know. In the remake it's mostly used as shorthand for Visitors (so far), including by the Visitors, which is what annoys me.
