The Norsefire government of England needs to enforce fear in the streets in order to maintain control in the wake of the terrorist attacks of V, to distract the populace from his threat to blow up Parliment. So, in a drastic move, they are going to bring in a known criminal who will help to rally the populace. A foreign criminal with distinctive flare - and best of all, he's an American.
Snake Plissken vs V.

I'm sorry to be late to the party, but I just read the West-Batman vs the Ledger Joker post and tears are flowing from laughing so hard.

Godzilla vs. Cloverfield. Atomic breath beats head-popping parasites. Godzilla has atomic breath, right? Otherwise, it's advantage: Cloverfield.

Mario. "Ulstered Sphinctor of Arse-erica." Snake wouldn't be welcome in England. That's the point - he'd be there to create a villain to revile, and V would not like this monkey wrench in his grand schemes...

Indiana Jones and Rick O'Connell vs. Nazi's in the Middle East over various occult and religious items ranging from copies of the Necronomicon, the Puzzle Box and more. How about Indy vs. Rick and Nazis vs. mummies? I was thinking of Indy vs. Rick originally, but they were both on the allies side sooooo... yeah. It would still be kind of fun to watch 'em brawl though. Nazis vs. anything is always golden, so Nazi's vs. Mummies would be fun.

While investigating the Guardian of Forever, Commander Spock of the USS Enterprise ends up in Brooklyn in the 1970s, trying to tie up a necessary temporal paradox that must occur, and the only man in his way is John Shaft....
and of course, I'm talking about Leonard Nimoy Spock vs. Richard Roundtree Shaft
